Riccardo Montolivo suffered a torn ACL during the qualifying match against Spain on Thursday night and will be out for a lengthy period.
He took a hard hit by Sergio Ramos after 30 minutes in the game which forced him to be carted off field and replaced by Giacomo Bonaventura. He underwent a MRI the morning after the match and was diagnosed with a torn ACL.
AC Milan posted this statement on their official website:
Montolivo underwent surgery over the weekend, and his recovery is set for around 5-6 months. This means that the Rossoneri will be without their captain for an extended period, it does mean that Manuel Locatelli will have a huge chance to show his talent during this period, so that’s a good thing to come out of it all!
Get well soon Riccardo!
