After 77 games and 34 goals with Milan, Carlos Bacca is on his way back to Spain. The thirty year-old will join up with Villarreal on a loan for the rest of the season. If he impresses, El Submarino Amarillo will have the option to buy.

Carlos Bacca was a decent option for Milan, and while that is reflected in his scoring rate for the club, he fell off the pace in 2016 after a series of disputes with Vincenzo Montella. Nikola Kalinic will likely be the man to replace Bacca, but surely, even with Kalinic on board, Milan are still lacking something upfront. While Milan’s striking corps is certainly serviceable, if they release Cutrone on loan, it’s looking weak. Maybe a move for a big striker is still on the cards? We’ll see.
So, it looks like Bacca’s time is up at Milan - and I think we all wish it had worked out just a tiny bit better.
