AC Milan are set to continue their summer transfer spree that has attracted a lot of hype and a lot of criticism in bucketloads. This time, their target is Bayern Munich wonderkid Renato Sanches. Bayern leapt for the youth talent before his breakout Euro 2016 performance but he hasn’t really made the grade over in Germany for a number of reasons.

According to the French publication L’Equipe, Renato Sanches is set to move to Milan for a fee of €40 million from Munich. The publication states that Sanches, a European Champion with Portugal, will commit to a four-year deal with Milan. Triple handshake incoming?

A lot of people wonder about the place Sanches would have in the Milan team - and it’s obvious. Depth. Milan’s star performer so far has been Franck Kessie and Sanches is a very similar player; although he does things with a bit of style. His work rate and positioning will be key for Montella’s Milan and if Kessie goes down, Sanches can step in. Montella might opt to play both players as well if they are chasing a lead and need some bite in their midfield. Sanches gives Milan depth and option; calling a talent like Sanches into the team will help Milan move forward in a campaign that will see them play a lot of games.
