Milan open up chase for Chelsea star

Forget Morata, Diego Costa is Milan’s new wanted man

According to Sky Sports, AC Milan have turned their attention to Diego Costa after being snubbed in their chase for Alvaro Morata. This stems from Milan’s leadership team and their meeting with the agent Jorge Mendes in Cardiff as the Champions League final took place. Talks went well - it appears so anyway as Fassone and Mirabelli will meet once more with Jorge Mendes, who represents Costa and Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez amongst others.

This is a bold move for AC Milan who are clearly in the market for a striker - their move for Morata is dead in the water and the Dembele news has yet to progress at all. Diego Costa was rumoured to move back to Atletico Madrid, but that died with the news of Atletico’s transfer ban.

A move for Costa would likely be extremely expensive - with a combined transfer and wage being much higher than any target Milan could find, let’s hope Milan have got the money to back their mouths!

Costa would be a great signing for Milan and while he is ageing, he is still very much a complete forward that would mark a 200% improvement on the disenfranchised Carlos Bacca.
