New owners mean transfer news and rumors are back!
Now that RSIL have completed the purchase of the 99.3% of the stocks of AC Milan, previously owned by the Berlusconi family, Marco Fassone and Massimiliano Mirabelli can finally work on some serious transfer moves. Actually, they had already had some meetings before Yonghong Li became the new owner. Meetings on the case of Villarreal’s centre back Mateo Musacchio.
The 26-year-old defender from Argentina had already been linked to Milan during last summer’s transfer window, but Adriano Galliani didn’t manage to get the deal done due to lack of funds. Now, according to calciomercato.com and confirmed by SkySport Italia this morning, Milan have made a €15 million plus bonuses offer to Villarreal and the two clubs seem close to reaching an agreement on this offer. In effect, Musacchio, whose contract is expiring in 2018, is likely not to extend his deal with the El Submarino amarillo at the end of this period and could be free to sign anywhere else for free. It makes sense for Villarreal to sell.
If the Rossoneri were able to sign the 26-year-old centre back, he would join Alessio Romagnoli in the middle of Milan’s defensive line and they would form one of the most promising defensive duo in the Serie A thanks to their technique and athletic skills. Also, Gabriel Paletta and Cristian Zapata would be great substitutes in case of suspensions or injuries, forming a really solid defensive corps for Milan.
