AC Milan released a brief, but important statement today;

‘We can announce that Giacomo Bonaventura has renewed his contract with the club until 30th June 2020.’

Did they need to offer a full web-page for that tidbit?

Bonaventura has had a fairly decent season for Milan under Montella and has contributed five assists thus far to the cause of the rossoneri. Transfermarkt state that his value is upwards of €20 million, meaning that Milan have made a well-timed move here to keep their star and safeguard his value.

Renewing Giacomo’s contract means two things - Milan have secured his playing abilities for the next three years and could use a possible sale of the player to bankroll the purchase of reinforcements should the takeover by Sino-Europe fail.

Bonaventura has done nothing if not improve since moving from Atalanta and has matched both his Serie A scoring and assist records from his previous club. This is an incredibly smart move by Milan - for once.
