Players to Watch

Theo Hernandez

The Frenchman returns to his natural position after weeks deployed at centre back. The collapse of Jimenez in the Coppa Italia has forced the move. Hernandez’s contribution in the attacking phase has been sorely lacking in key games and he has shown his impact even from CB. The move could be an opportunity to revive the threat of the left wing and to boost the crosses in the box for Giroud and Jovic to exploit. The defensive crisis has been hard on the side and a return to normalcy is inching closer and could stabilise our league campaign.

Romelu Lukaku

The former Inter Milan striker has 14 goals and 2 assists for Roma in all competitions so far. The Belgian has not scored in the previous two league games but has had decent performances against the top sides and even scored against Napoli in December. The worrying thing is that Lukaku’s record against Milan is immense with 5 goals in 8 games while with Inter. Moreover, the defence will consist of Kjaer and Gabbia who can both be overwhelmed by his strength.

Olivier Giroud

The striker has hit double figures for the 14th consecutive season but he has been less decisive for the Rossoneri with a reliance on penalties. He has not been effective in the air and has not seen enough of the ball throughout games. Giroud is fighting to maintain his starting spot with Jovic in decent form. Giroud has scored against Roma twice with one goal coming earlier this season, if he can be a threat, we can put the game to bed.

Prediction: Milan 2-1 Roma
