AC Milan were humiliated at the San Siro after yet another defeat to Lombardian rivals Atalanta in the Coppa Italia. Milan and Stefano Pioli had the perfect opportunity for a deep run in the competition given the exits of Inter Milan, Napoli and AS Roma but the Rossoneri could not muster a half decent performance at home to get past the quarters.

Milan were beaten 2-1 by a brace from Teun Koopmeiners who scored a banger for his first and converted from the penalty spot for the second. Th Rossoneri did not create enough chances throughout the game and did not take the chances they did have.

Rafael Leao scored with a good volley to open the game up after a cutback from Theo Hernandez in the box but Atalanta equalised less than two minutes later.

The Rossoneri are now out of the Scudetto race, out of the Champions League, knocked out of the Coppa Italia and only have the Europa League left to truly compete in alongside securing a top four spot in the Serie A.
