AC Milan host Atalanta at the San Siro for a knock out fixture in the quarter finals of the Coppa Italia. The Rossoneri are putting together some positive results but this will be a big test as the side struggled against Gasperini’s system not too long ago. The Coppa needs to be prioritised as the path to silverware is there for the taking,

Players to Watch

Alex Jimenez

The young wingback has impressed with his confidence above all. He is not scared to jump into tackles, he is willing to take on his man and he has flair when on the ball. His cockiness is something we have been lacking as he carries the ball with swagger and opponents struggle to dispossess him. This will be his first test against a higher class of opponent after two game against lower placed sides. If he can keep delivering at this position, Theo Hernandez might get an extended stay in the middle and work on a transition as the squad adopts versatility.

Gianluca Scamacca

The former Sassuolo and West Ham striker started off well with Atalanta but has been sidelined with injury. In the previous tie, Lookman dominated our defence and Scamacca will want to have a similar impact. He should be expected to face a green Gabbia while Hernandez is out of position despite him adapting to the role. He has 6 goals and 2 assists across all competitions thus is a big threat and will be the focal point as Charles de Ketelaere is likely to sit out with a minor injury. His size will distrub us but we need to keep him locked out of the box.

Luka Jovic

The striker got a brace in the midweek win over Cagliari last week after he got a start and the Rossoneri faithful will be praying he delivers the same again. Jovic has been on fire since December and he needs to parlay this form into a consistent starting spot so the goals need to keep coming. Jovic scored against Atalanta in the previous league game so he knows how to beat their defence and will have the opportunity to test Carnesecchi. Jovic can propel us to the semi-finals of the Coppa and in his current form is the spear of our attack.

Prediction: Milan 3-1 Atalanta
