AC Milan travelled to the capital last night and absolutely silenced the home crowd in a 2-1 victory that really should have been two or three goals more. The Rossoneri are firing on all cylinders and looked very impressive against Jose Mourinho’s anti-football where his side parked the bus from the first minute.
Milan created lots of dangerous chances coming out of the gates and were easily breaking the lines with solid passing and good movement. Ruben Loftus-Cheek particularly excelled and this allowed him to make a run into the box and win a penalty as Rui Patricio cut him off at the leg but did not get the ball. Olivier Giroud stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to get us the opener and get his fourth goal in the opening three games.
Milan would double their lead through a moment of brilliance from Rafael Leao who pulled off a overhead volley while being pulled to the ground by a defender connecting masterfully with Davide Calabria’s cross and angling it perfectly to hit the far post and go in to double our advantage.
The final third of the game was slightly nervy as Fikayo Tomori lost his cool and got sent off for a second yellow card which means he will miss the derby. Milan also conceded a late goal as Spinazzola smashed a shot from outside the box which took a deflection off Pierre Kalulu wrong-footing Mike Maignan to give them a consolation.
Milan make it three wins in three games to start off the season. Now we have a two week break for the national teams fixtures and follow it up with the derby.
