AC Milan took on Juventus at the Dignity Health Sports Park in California earlier today as part of the ‘Soccer Champions Tour’ of the US. Milan and Juventus drew 2-2 in the regular playing time before going for a penalty shoot out where Juventus prevailed 4-3.
Malick Thiaw was the standout performer for the Rossoneri as he nabbed a goal and an assist in the first half of the game. He is demonstrating his aerial ability and will be a consistent threat in the air for the season. He connected with Theo Hernandez’s free kick to head in the opener. For Milan’s second goal, he cushioned a ball from a corner for Olivier Giroud to volley into the back of the net. Milan conceded two scrappy goals from set pieces with Danilo bumbling in the first and Rugani heading on in the second to equalise.
On the penalties, Romero tripped and missed the first one. Pobega’s was saved as was Bartesaghi’s. Adli, De Ketelaere and Colombo scored but it was to no avail. Sportiello managed to save two penalties.
Milan play their final game of the pre-season tour next Wednesday against FC Barcelona in Las Vegas.
