AC Milan took on Real Madrid at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, USA yesterday and put in a promising display despite the 3-2 loss. The new signings are looking to build some chemistry and the team is clicking in attack thus far. The standout performers from the game were new signing from Lazio, Luka Romero and Primavera defender Dario Simic who both seem to be stepping up to demand a spot in the squad.
Tomori opened the scoring in the 26th minute with a sublime header connecting with Pulisic’s in-swinging corner. Romero doubled our lead with a worldie as an interception led to Calbria laying off the ball for the Argentine youngster to lift the ball and whack a stunning volley into the back of the net from outside the box. The first half ended 2-0 and Milan looked in control of the fixture.
The second half saw two defensive errors and goalkeeping howlers allow Valverde to score 2 goals in about 2 minutes with long shots. Sportiello almost biffed the first one as the shot slid past him but Tomori’s misplaced pass set up the second goal and the game was all square.
When our starters came on at aroudn the 70th minute, the spark came back as Giroud had a brilliant chance as did Reijnders and Romero again but we could not bury the ball into the back of the net. An error from Leao allowed Modric to fre Viniciu Jr on the break who beat Kjaer for pace before an easy goal past Maignan to win it 3-2 for the Spanish side.
