AC Milan miraculously close out 2023 with a victory over Sassuolo at the San Siro. The Rossoneri claimed a slim 1-0 victory to end a terrible run of form against the Neroverdi at home where the last win came in 2019. Stefano Pioli’s side managed to gain a small advantage on Napoli and Bologna as well as slightly closed the gap to Inter Milan at the top.

Christian Pulisic scored the winner as he made a brilliant run into the box and collected Ismael Bennacer’s sublime line breaking pass before chipping over the keeper. The Rossoneri also scored two offside goals which were chalked off in the first half.

It was a big moment for Kevin Zeroli as he got his senior team debut and played tidily for 20 minutes. Jan-Carlo Simic also came off the bench for his third appearance in a row.

Mike Maignan kept a crucial clean sheet as Milan climb to 36 points from 18 games. Next cup is the Coppa Italia fixture against Cagliari in three days.
