AC Milan hosted Lazio at the San Siro yesterday evening and came through with an unrelenting 45 minutes in the second half to take home all three points. Stefano Pioli beat Maurizio Sarri’s side 2-0 with goals from summer signings, Christian Pulisic and Noah Okafor. The standout performer in the game was undoubtedly left winger Rafael Leao as he provided the assists for both goals and in general wreaked havoc down that side of the pitch.
The first half was a cagey affair and an eyesore. The build up play is quite slow and the new system needs to be worked on as Yacine Adli is doing well to break the lines but he is helping the tempo of the game especially in transition.
The first goal came from a brilliant exchange between Theo Hernandez, Rafael Leao and Tijjani Reijnders on that left side before Leao was played in to the byline and he delivers and inviting cross for Pulisic who comes to the near post and catches the ball in midair to beat Provedel. The second was a great solo run for Leao who drew in multiple defenders and the keeper before just slicing a pass across the box for Okafor to tap in to an empty net to double our lead and seal the game.
