AC Milan played their final mid-season friendly in the Netherlands yesterday afternoon against PSV Eindhoven and got destroyed. Milan looked somehow worse off to the two losses in the Dubai Super Cup against Arsenal FC and Liverpool FC being swept aside 3-0. Milan offered absolutely nothing in attack for the opening 70 minutes of the game.
We saw players flop as expected such as Alexis Saelemaekers and Ante Rebic but other who we have faith in such as Charles de Ketelaere and Yacine Adli are doing absolutely nothing to convince the manager nor the fans.
Sergino Dest was infuriating at left back as he could not defend to save his life hence allowed PSV’s Madueke to bag a beautiful brace off the same move twice but also consistently dribbled into a wall and lost the ball every single time.
Sandor Tonali and Ismael Bennacer are missing some chemistry and cannot seem to drive the ball up the pitch as the attack falters and offers little useful support. The defence is looking sketchy with more and more mistakes from Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu in low stress moments.
Most significantly, as long as Mike Maignan is out, we ought to play with 10 men as Ciprian Tatarusanu and Antonio Mirante provide practically no service between the sticks.
A worrying week ahead for Stefano Pioli as we risk Napoli running away with the title if the performances do not dramatically turn around.
