Just one assist in this one but an important one. AC Milan players continue to impress in the World Cup in Qatar on matchday three. Five Milan players are heading into the next round while two are going home. Here is a breakdown of their performances:

Fode Ballo Toure - Senegal (Ecuador 1-2 Senegal)

Ballo-Toure was finally on the bench for an important match where his side beat Ecuador to secure a spot in the final 16 against England.

Sergino Dest - USA (USA 1-0 Iran)

Dest delivered in a big way for his final group stage match with an assist for the winning goal over Iran. The US will go through and face the Netherlands in the knock outs. Dest’s headed assist capped off a solid 82 minutes to set up a tough tie against his birth nation and the country that gave him his break at football through the Ajax academy.

Charles de Ketelaere - Belgium (Croatia 0-0 Belgium)

CDK was tied to the bench as Belgium crashed out of the World Cup. He was not one of the five brought on by Martinez to find a goal to get through which will be a massive hit to his confidence. CDK is out and can hopefully use the time to adjust with Milan.

Simon Kjaer - Denmark (Australia 1-0 Denmark)

The centre back was benched yet again as his side got dropped out the World Cup. The side struggled to do anything big in the tournament. Kjaer returns home.

Theo Hernandez - France (Tunisia 1-0 France)

Hernandez was rested for this game as France already qualified. They were beaten 1-0 by Tunisia but still qualify top of the group. He will face Poland in the next round.

Olivier Giroud - France (Tunisia 1-0 France)

Giroud was also rested for this game. The loss doesn’t affect them as Poland awaits in the round of sixteen.

Rafael Leao - Portugal (Portugal 1-2 South Korea)

Leao came off the bench with 25 minutes to go but Portugal was happy to hold out for a draw before the shock late goal. Portugal face Switzerland in the next round.

Milan G/A for the tournament is now at 6. Clean sheets (defenders only) at 3.
