A mellow final for both the Milanisti and both got subbed off before the 90th. AC Milan players take home the despised silver medals after a loss to Argentina on penalties after a thrilling 3-3 draw. Here is a breakdown of their performances:
Theo Hernandez - France (France 3-3 Argentina [P])
Hernandez had a tough game but didn’t do much right or wrong. France we’re pinned back for majority of the time he was on the pitch but the insertion of Camavinga in his place brought some directness which helped with the goals to equalise before the 90th. He managed De Paul well all game as Di Maria wreaked havoc on Kounde on the opposite wing. A disappointing final for him but he has laid the foundations to be the France starting left back for the next cycle and more.
Olivier Giroud - France (France 3-3 Argentina [P])
A painful end to his World Cup career as he will not likely travel with France in 2026. He was withdrawn after just 40 minutes in the final as Deschamps needed to switch up the game plan at 2-0 down. The move was correct in hindsight but was a massive confidence blow to the veteran striker and will no doubt be a night to forget for him.
Milan G/A for the tournament ends at 10. Clean sheets (defenders only) remain at 4. A remarkable tournament for the men in red and black in Qatar.
Rossoneri walk away with two silver medals and lots of regret but hopefully this drives some hunger for a Scudetto push.
