AC Milan face Venezia at the San Siro tonight in Serie A. Stefano Pioli will be rotating a number of players and will rely on an out of place attack given the injury crisis at the club. We may see some rare appearances from Gabbia and Kalulu from the start and Ballo-Toure and Pellegri off the bench. Here are some key battles to watch out for:

Key Battles

Striker vs Centre back

Ante Rebic vs Mattia Caldara

Rebic is having a big week in the first half of the season for the first time in his two or so seasons. He is a big game player though, he scored against Liverpool and Juventus but now can he do it against Venezia. He will be facing Caldara who he is somewhat familiar with from brief interactions at Milanello so it will be nice to see him keep the run going. Caldara has often liked facing Milan as with Atalanta last season and a good showing could cause issues.

Left midfielder vs Right back

Dennis Johnsen vs Pierre Kalulu

This is the key battle to watch in this one. Johnsen is by far the most exciting player on Venezia with some incredible pace and good control down that left wing. He can dribble down and cross but also cut back in where he boasts a slicing shot at the back post. Kalulu put in a good shift against Juve but he was largely attacking then, this game will be a defensive test for the youngster. He need to position well and not make any rash challenges in the box.

Striker vs Centre back

David Okereke vs Matteo Gabbia

Okereke and Henry have a good chemistry going in attack for Venezia. They are gifted with an opportunity to make a statement against youngster Gabbia who will need to step up and deliver a solid performance. Okereke has scored once and Henry has scored once too, both will likely start side by side given the need to score early against Milan. Gabbia is yet to feature in this campaign so it will be a big opportunity for the 21 year old defender.
