After the international break, AC Milan faced Lazio at the San Siro. This match saw the return of Franck Kessie to the starting lineup and new signing Florenzi getting the starting nod. From the first minute, Milan showed that they were pumped up for such a big match. They came out and put pressure on Lazio, giving them little space to breathe. Milan truly dominated for the majority of the first half, but they couldn’t find the back of the net. Late into the first half with the Lazio defence the Milan squad smelled blood and went for an attack. Leao started and finished the attack giving Milan the lead. Even later in the first half, Milan was awarded a penalty, but Franck Kessie smashed it off the crossbar. At the half, Milan looked confident up 1-0.

The second half was much of the same for Milan as they took any sting out of Lazio’s attacks. Milan held solid and kept creating chances to try and add to their lead. Then, Ibra came on and Ibra did what he knows best. He scores a tap-in with a very nice assist from Ante Rebic. After going up 2-0 Milan looked to slow the pace of the match down and pack it in for their Champions League match against Liverpool.

STARTING LINE-UP

Mike Maignan: Not much to do for Mike against Lazio but he was aggressive and took command of his box. 6.5/10

Davide Calabria: What a nice defensive performance for Davide. His growth is outstanding to see and he denied whoever was attacking on the right side. 7.5/10

Alessio Romagnoli: A very nice return to the starting lineup for Alessio. He looked faster and much more aggressive. He seems to be retuning to form. Having three good centre backs would be amazing for depth. 7.5/10

Fikayo Tomori: Do I need to even say anything? 7.5/10

Theo Hernandez: A solid game from Theo. He made great runs going forward and some nice overlapping runs but he wasn't seen much on those. He had a hiccup or two on defence but overall player well. 7/10

Sandro Tonali: Sandro Tonali is booming at the moment and his confidence is through the roof. He has played outstanding and his pass to Rebic on the Ibra goal was a beautiful sight to see. 7.5/10

Franck Kessie: Kessie looked good in his first match back, nothing too crazy but there was some noticeable rust. Of course, it doesn't help that he missed a penalty but in the end it didn't matter much. 6.5/10

Alessandro Florenzi: Florenzi didn't do much of anything against Lazio and basically ran around for most of his time on the pitch. He did a great job tracking back and helping the defence. 6/10

Rafael Leao: Leao is breaking out this season and it seems like every match he is creating chances for this team. He had great composure on his goal and could have had some assists if we had a pure striker. 7/10

Brahim Diaz: Brahim didn't flash that much again in this match but he has proved that even in a quiet match he makes some impact. He did squander some chances but overall he was ok and a lot better than our 10 from last year. 6/10

Ante Rebic: Ante came to play and got two very nice assists. This was one of his best matches that he played up top for Milan. This isn't a permanent solution but it was a great showing from Ante. 7.5/10

SUBSTITUTES

Zlatan Ibrahimovic: Zlatan looked great when he came on the pitch. He looked refreshed and reinvigorated. A nice little tap in helps pad the stats but Milan look confident with Zlatan on and off the pitch. 6.5/10

Tiemoue Bakayoko: Bakayoko didn't look good on the pitch. He was slow and late to everything, not to mention that his touch and passing were very off. 5.5/10

Alexis Saelemaekers: Alexis came on with confidence and even had a very nice pass to Zlatan who failed to capitalize. 6/10

Ismael Bennacer: Bennacer continues to inch his way back into matches. He looks like his regular self. 6/10

Fode Ballo-Toure: Subbed on out of position but came on with good energy and fight. 6/10
