AC Milan Women Beat Atletico Madrid Femenino 3-1 In Friendly As New Signing Shines

A good showing against a big team gets us excited for the start of the season.

AC Milan Women faced Atletico Madrid Women in a friendly match yesterday in Madrid. The Rossonere were playing their second pre season friendly ahead of the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers.

The game was a great opportunity to see new signings in action but specifically for Laia Codina who has joined on loan from FC Barcelona as she made her debut.

Valentina Giacinti opened the scoring for Milan in the 13th minute with a fine finish capitalising on a mistake from the home side. Atletico managed to equalise shortly after as Deyna Castellanos managed to connect with the lay off from Barbara Latorre for 1-1. Lindsey Thomas broke through in attack and scored in the 39th minute showing great individual strtength and awareness. Thomas scored another goal in the second half as she completed a brace in the 74th minute. Thomas follows up her goal against Olimpia Lubiana with two more showing that she is one of the top prospects from the summer. The friendly game ended 3-1 as the Rossonere pick up a big win which is a huge boost for confidence.
