AC Milan on their website have officially announced that centre back Mattia Caldara has been loaned to Venezia for the season with an option to buy. The defender returned to the club following an 18 month loan at Atalanta but he was not redeemed at the end. The player has been plagued by injured since joining the club from Juventus in the summer of 2018 in exchange for Leonardo Bonucci. Caldara was expected to be a top defender for the club and for the Italian national team but has not lived up to the expectations.
The 27 year old will spend the season with newly promoted Venezia and as per previous reports, he will have a buy out option set at a measly 4 million euros. Caldara, in three seasons, made just two appearances for Milan in the 2018/19 season, once in the Europa League and once in the Coppa Italia.
