AC Milan took on Valencia CF in Spain in the second pre season friendly of the European Summer Tour. The game was a tame 0-0 draw but the Rossoneri had a number of good chances as Stefano Pioli experimented with formations and position changes. Maignan, Giroud and Ballo-Toure got minutes alongside Diaz and Tonali. Milan lost the game 5-4 on penalties as Krunic missed.
Diaz was very impressive in this game, he showed his potential and ripped through Valencia defence on numerous occasions. Leao was stunning in this game, his dribbling is getting better and he manages to get past players closer to the box. Pobega made a solid case to remain and be the fourth midfielder this season, he pressured well and handled his passing well. Ballo-Toure was perhaps the biggest surprise of the game with his explosive pace and his strength to shield while on the ball.
Castillejo and Krunic were easily the flops of this game, as they put in awful performances and broke up Milan’s play. Castillejo wasted opportunities and struggled to create much as usual. Krunic was played out of position and he made some horrific tackles demonstrating he was out of his depth.
