AC Milan went into the UEFA Champions League draw in the fourth pot and have come out with a very difficult group for the 2021/22 season.
Group B: Club Atlético de Madrid, Liverpool, Porto, AC Milan.
The group stage will begin on 14-15 September and end on 7-8 December, with home and away matches being played, and the top two teams in each group will qualify for the knockout stages.
Here are some fun facts from Milan on the encounter:
- AC Milan have faced Atlético just twice in Europe: the Rossoneri lost both fixtures during their round of 16 tie during the 2013/14 season.
- Atletico were the last team that AC Milan faced in the Champions League: in March 2014, the Diavolo suffered a 4-1 defeat away from home, with Kaká getting on the scoresheet.
- AC Milan have played Liverpool twice in Europe: the two Champions League finals in 2005 and 2007. The Rossoneri lost the first on penalties but won the second 2-1 thanks to a Filippo Inzaghi brace.
- AC Milan have faced Porto nine times in Europe, winning four of those fixtures. The teams last met in 2003, when the Rossoneri ran out 1-0 winners in the UEFA Super Cup.
