AC Milan have welcomed back another former player to it’s coaching staff. Former right back Ignazio Abate has taken over as the coach for the U16 side in Milan’s Primavera. This is a first for the former player who retired in 2019 as he has been undertaking sessions at Coverciano to get his UEFA coaching licenses. He is up to the UEFA A license now. He is part of a cohort that includes Massimo Maccarone, Alessandro Del Piero, Alessandro Matri, Daniele De Rossi, Giampaolo Pazzini, Christian Vieri, Riccardo Montolivo and Federico Balzaretti. The UEFA A license allows you to coach all youth teams, all women’s teams and up to Serie C in Italy.
The former Milan player on Twitter posted,
“Thanks AC Milan for giving me this great opportunity! Starting my coaching career with these colours is a privilege and a source of pride. Working with youngsters will be beautiful, stimulating and enriching for me! It will be my passion to repay the trust with which my boys welcomed me.”
