AC Milan Women Knocked Out Of UEFA Women’s Champions League In 2-0 Loss To Hoffenheim

A tough game for the Rossonere and an early exit from the tournament.

AC Milan

AC Milan Women took on Hoffenheim in the finals of round 1 of the UEFA Women’s Champions League in Zurich. The Rossonere featured a similar line up to their first game in the competition except Laia Codina starting in the defence ahead of Gudny Arnadottir. Milan were beaten 2-0 knocking them out of the qualifiers for the competition. This was a big test for Maurizio Ganz and his side but the side were outplayed by the Germans as our attack never took off and we were pressed down when we defended.

Laura Fusetti had a bad day which made this a difficult game as she made numerous passing errors and gifted the ball to Hoffenheim attacker Julia Brand through a botched clearance for the first goal. Isabella Hartig added a goal in the second half putting Milan in a difficult situation leading to a dull final half an hour.

This is a big blow for the side but they made history with the first appearance in the tournament for the club and kicked off with a win. This can now be considered a warm up for the season where the goal will undoubtedly be the Scudetto.
