AC Milan have officially announced their teams schedules for the month of August. What wasn’t noted in the announcement s that the women’s team have pulled out of the Kaif Trophy tournament. The reasons why are unknown. However, it seems they have pulled out of the tournament to focus on their upcoming Champions League qualifiers.

The Rossonere will instead, be playing two separate friendlies. The first one will be on August 3rd as they’ll play Olimpia Lubiana in Tarvisio, Italy. The match will kick off at 17:00 CET.

The second match will be on August 8th. Milan will fly to Spain to play against Atlético Madrid in the country’s capital. The match will take place at the Wanda Alcalá de Henares, which is where Atléti plays their league matches.

The friendly will be interesting for several reasons. The first of which is that Laia Codina will meet her former league rivals. The last time she played them was while she was with Barça in early June. The match ended 4-3 in favor of the Rojiblancas.

Milan will also meet another familiar face, as they’ll face fullback Alia Guagni. Guagni currently plays for Atlético Madrid. The last time she played Milan was when she was the captain of Fiorentina. The match was played in November of 2019, and the game between the Viola and Rossonere ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Rossonere will also be playing the friendly the same day both of Barcelona’s senior teams will play for the Joan Gamper Trophy. Both the men’s and women’s teams will play Milan’s league rivals, Juventus.

The upcoming matches will most definitely be interesting. More details about the games, including how to watch them, will be posted as soon as they’re made available.

From the team’s official website:

The Rossonere will be in Tarvisio until 4 August, where they will play a friendly against Olimpija Ljubljana on the penultimate day of the training camp. This will then be followed by a high-class friendly against Atletico Madrid on 8 August in the Spanish capital. The big day for Ganz’s girls is 17 August, however, when they take on FC Zürich in the first round of qualifying to the Women’s Champions League. On 20 August, the second European fixture will take place against either Hoffenheim or Valur; if we win against Zurich, it will prove a good challenge for getting through the round. Their Serie A campaign kicks off on 29 August, the schedule for which will be announced in the coming days.
