Official: AC Milan Women Renew The Contract Of Key Goalkeeper Despite Marquee Signing

Nice to see some players remain this summer.

AC Milan

AC Milan have officially announced on their website the contract extension of the women’s First Team player Mária Korenčiová. The Slovakian goalkeeper will continue to wear the Rossoneri jersey next season. Korenčiová, who is part of the squad since the 2018/19 season, has collected 65 appearances with the Club. Korenciova has been an integral part of this squad that helped the Rossonere qualify for the Champions League and get to the Coppa Italia final. Her absence was always sorely felt when she missed out as Babb often had big shoes to fill. Her renewal is a good step for the club as it gives us at least two solid options between the sticks.

The renewal is quite surprising given that Milan just signed Juventus no. 1 Laura Giuliani this summer and she will likely be the starter for the club. It would be good to see Korenciova compete with Giuliani and possibly cover different tournaments.
