AC Milan took on OGC Nice in their first friendly of the European Summer Tour. Mike Maignan and Olivier Giroud made their debuts. The game was largely disjointed due to the ridiculous calls from the referee throughout the first half. Milan’s central midfielders struggled to link passes and get something going, the attack seemed toothless but the defence is holding up well.
The Rossoneri conceded first as the weirdly biased referee gave a soft penalty to Nice as Rade Krunic got tangled up with an attacker in the box. Gouiri stepped up and shot right by Ciprian Tatarusanu who took too long to react and let it in. Milan equalised shortly after from a set piece.
Giroud scored within four minutes of coming onto the pitch and that was his first touch of the ball. Samu Castillejo swung in a cross from a free kick on the left and Giroud held off two defenders and headed into the back of the net to announce his arrival at the club.
Daniel Maldini made an impressive cameo, Fikayo Tomori and Alessio Romagnoli are partnering well together but Olivier Giroud was the standout.
Tonali, Pobega and Diaz struggled to make an impact while Hernandez, Saelemaekers and Leao seemed out of ideas.
