AC Milan had two players taking part in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Franck Kessie was representing Ivory Coast and Pierre Kalulu representing France. Kalulu exited the tournament earlier as France did not make it out of the group stages. Kessie meanwhile was through to the quarter finals where his side drew Spain for the encounter.
Ivory Coast took on Spain earlier today in a heated contest that ended 2-2 at full time but the African side collapsed in extra time as the game ended 5-2. Kessie was impressive as usual and a big part of why his side held out against Spain for so long despite their numerous attacks. A solid tournament performance from the player who scored one goal in the opening game and got his side to the quarter finals.
Kessie is expected to return to Milan immediately and will join up with the group next week. He is not expected to take any extra holiday as he needs to resolve his contract situation and prepare for the start o the season.
