AC Milan have two players participating in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in Franck Kessie representing Ivory Coast and Pierre Kalulu representing France. Yesterday, both players featured in the third round of the group stages and one player made it through to the knock out while the other fell short.
Ivory Coast held Germany to a 0-0 draw securing their place in the quarter finals as they finished second in their group behind Brazil. Kessie as in recent games has been a leader on the pitch and has been a dominant fixture in the midfield. He is set to face Spain in the quarter finals in the coming days.
France were embarrassed by hosts Japan in a 4-0 thumping. Kalulu struggled in this game as he was often caught out of position but struggled due to the lack of communication with his fellow centre back. The defender was subbed off in the second half with the game at 2-0 but has gained some important experience in the tournament. He will likely go on holiday and return to training in a couple of weeks.
