AC Milan played their first pre season friendly yesterday afternoon against Serie C side Pro Sesto. Milan came away with a 6-0 win as Stefano Pioli rotated the sides with the first team playing the first half and reserves playing the second half. The game took place at Milanello and was a rare opportunity to see Maldini’s sons on opposite sides as Daniel started for Milan while Christian started for Pro Sesto.
Theo Hernandez made a bursting run down the middle before playing in Ismael Bennacer who whacked in a low shot across the keeper into the bottom left corner to make it 1-0. Daniel Maldini made a break down the middle and set off a good through ball for Rafael Leao who took in in stride and curled the ball past a defender and the keeper for 2-0. Samu Castillejo came through with a banger taking a pin point shot from way out side the box to make it 3-0. In the second half, Jens Petter Hauge, Lorenzo Colombo and Tommaso Pobega hit the post. Pobega long shot smacked the post and then the keeper before rolling in hence he forced an own goal. Late in the game, Milos Kerkez announced himself with a late brace scoring two goals from runs made down the left wing and hammering shots from close range past the keeper to finish the game 6-0.
Maldini, Pobega and Kerkez definitely announced themselves as players to watch in the pre season as they could fight for place in the first team as rotational options.
