AC Milan Still Confident To Sign Veteran France and Chelsea Striker Despite Contract Renewal

The Rossoneri wants to boost the productivity of the attack and will need to add some winners, Giroud has won it all now.

Chelsea officially confirmed on their website that they triggered the renewal of French striker Olivier Giroud who was rumoured to be joining AC Milan on a bosman this summer.

Gazzetta dello Sport via MilanLive.it are reiterating that the Rossoneri will not pay a transfer fee for the striker. This means the player will need to negotiate a mutual agreement with Chelsea if he wishes to join Milan.

Calcio Mercato spoke to the entourage of the player who confirmed he can still leave the club for free as long as he goes abroad. The clause in the one year renewal is to ensure he does not join another English team for free.

Tuttosport via MilanNews.it are reporting that the striker will joining Milan regardless as the move was to protect the club from strengthening a direct competitor in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Giroud spoke to the press via Calcio Mercato and said:

“I loved some of Milan’s players, it’s a great club. But I wouldn’t talk about my future, Chelsea activated the option in April. for the renewal and they announced it. I will not talk about my future at club level, I am focused on the European Championships.

I want to make it clear that Chelsea reactivated the clause on April and they recently announced it to comply with Premier League rules. I liked Van Basten and Shevchenko. Milan are a big club and one of the greats in Europe.”
