AC Milan’s young defender Pierre Kalulu who arrived from Lyon’s youth side last season has been called up by France’s U23 team for the Tokyo Olympics. The tournament will be taking place from the 21st of July until the 7th of August hence the player could miss a big chunk if not all of the pre-season under Stefano Pioli as the squad kicks off preparations. The 21 year old played 18 games for Milan last season and even managed to score 1 goal.

Tuttosport via MilanNews.it are reporting that Kalulu could have a difficult pre-season ahead of him as a result because he will arrive to the group quite late and will have some fatigue from the tournament. He will be fighting for a spot either as a right back or a centre back for Milan but given the existence of numerous players at those positions, he will need to shine to get playing time.
