AC Milan President Resigns From His Role With Lega Serie A

Another one bites the dust ...

AC Milan President Paolo Scaroni looks on before the serie A... Photo by Marco Canoniero/LightRocket via Getty Images are reporting that AC Milan’s President Paolo Scaroni was present at the Lega Serie A Assembly yesterday which took place over a video call where he resigned his position as League Councillor. He was effectively a director of the Lega Serie A. It is unclear if this has anything to do with the European Super League (ESL).

The meeting was run by President of the body Dal Pino as all 20 clubs were present. The assembly unanimously postponed the discussion on the ESL to another session in the future. The assembly also unanimously postponed the vote on the new TV rights deal to next week to allow for negotiations in the interim and an assessment of the offer from Sky.

The resignation seems to follow the trend of owners and executives of football teams involved in the ESL leaving their positions in respective national and regional bodies. It remains to be seen what the implications for the clubs will be.
