There are growing reports that there is an uneasy atmosphere at Milanello as Stefano Pioli’s AC Milan side are set to take on Andrea Pirlo’s Juventus this weekend in a game with huge implications for the Champions League race and the future of goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

There are reports of some strife between striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and other players in the squad as his harsh style of motivation seems to have struck a nerve with some of his teammates.

Another major storyline to keep an eye on is Donnarumma’s mental state ahead of the crucial tie following his confrontation with ultras and his contract situation with the club. There were calls from ultras for him not to play in the game without renewing as it could be a conflict of interest as Juventus are interested in signing him on a bosman.

The weekend game will also be a big test for Pioli to show that he is the right man for the job going forward. Winning the game would surely set him up to be at the helm for next season, but a loss to exacerbate the collapse of the side taking them out of the Champions League places and throwing his future into turmoil.
