AC Milan Women took on AS Roma in the Coppa Italia final last night at the Mapeil Stadium in Reggio Emilia. The was the first appearance in the final of the Coppa for the Rossonere. The Milan Women dominated the game creating the better chances through Valentina Giacinti and Natasha Dowie but struggled to find the right finishes. The game was rather dull in the second half as both sides settled in defensively leading to a 0-0 draw after 90 minutes. Both sides went in a bit more attacking in the extra time as Mauri almost perfectly played in Giacinti but Swaby made an incredible last ditch interception.
The game went to penalties where the Rossonere struggled and lost 3-1 as only Agard scored. Tucceri Cimini, Grimshaw and Boquete all missed which led to heartbreaking scenes especially for captain Giacinti. The Rossonere were so close to silverware but not decisive enough in regular time hence the challenge of a penalty shoot out.
