Earlier today, the AC Milan Women secured qualification for the Champions League by playing Sassuolo to a nil-nil tie. Since the Rossonere came into this match with more points than the Neroverde (49 to 46), all they had to do was tie or win the game to qualify for the tournament. And lo and behold, they managed to tie.
And what a glorious tie it was. The Rossonere played Sassuolo to a stalemate, with standout performances from the likes of Yui Hasegawa, Selena Babb, Francesca Vitale, and Laura Fusetti. Milan also made history in other ways, as they are the first women’s team in Italy to debut a new kit before the men’s team.
A full review of the match will be posted later. For now, just enjoy the highlights and the celebrations as the AC Milan Women have qualified for Europe for the first time in their history.
And rejoice Milanisti. We did it.
