AC Milan play Cagliari at the San Siro in an important fixture that could propel the Rossoneri to lock up a Champions League place. Stefano Pioli makes just one change from the side that whacked Torino 7-0 in midweek as Alexis Saelemaekers returns. Milan will rely on Ante Rebic again as there will be no natural strikers in the squad. Let’s hope for another big win.
Striker vs Centre back
Ante Rebic vs Diego Godin
Rebic has now had two incredible games back to back as he shows he is a player for the second half of the season. Against Cagliari, he needs to make it three good games in a row as the onus will be on him and Hernandez to bring the heat in attack. He will be up against an experienced defender in Godin but hopefully he can circumvent his man marking and use his pace on the breaks.
Central midfielder vs Central defensive midfielder
Radja Nainggolan vs Franck Kessie
Kessie and Nainggolan will be a fierce battle and one that will define the game. Kessie will need to be strong and aggressive to ensure Nainggolan doesn’t have space to fire off a shot or pick out a pass. Equally, Nainggolan is usually a nuisance in the midfield as he likes to press high and frustrates midfielders forcing mistakes. Milan will need to be wary of mistakes that allow quick turnovers.
Left winger vs Right back
Joao Pedro vs Davide Calabria
Pedro is easily the top performer for Cagliari and is one of the most dangerous attackers on the squad. He will be looking to cut in beating Calabria. The youngster has been one of Milan’s most consistent and has been solid in defence, if he manages to keep Pedro locked out of the box we have a good chance of another clean sheet. Calabria will also need to keep an eye on the runs into the box with Pedro at his back and Pavoletti at the front.
