UEFA have opened a disciplinary investigation against AC Milan and Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic over his ownership of stakes in a betting company.
UEFA released a statement via BBC earlier this week that stated:
“In accordance with Article 31(4) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations, a Uefa ethics and disciplinary inspector has today been appointed to conduct a disciplinary investigation regarding a potential violation of the Uefa disciplinary regulations by Mr Zlatan Ibrahimovic for having an alleged financial interest in a betting company.”
“Further information regarding this matter will be made available in due course.”
As we reported here, the striker through his stock company Unknown AB owns 10% of Bethard.com which violated the FIFA and UEFA codes of ethics.
The repercussions for the striker could range from fines to suspension from footballing activities.
La Gazzetta dello Sport via MilanNews.it are reporting that the striker is likelier to receive a fine than a ban from plying.
