AC Milan played Sassuolo at the San Siro and collapsed mentally as the hopes for the top four finish this season took a massive hit. Milan started the game well controlling the tempo and taking advantage of their chances early on as Hakan Calhanoglu opened the scoring at the 30th minute with a stunning curling shot past Andrea Consigli. Alexis Saelemaekers provided the assist and he put in an admirable performance where he showed the impact of his intense work rate and he shifted positions all across the pitch.

The game was wide open but Milan got beaten down by Sassuolo’s super sub in 21 year old Italy Youth international Giacomo Raspadori who scored an eight minute brace. His first came from an inability for Milan to clear the ball allowing him the opportunity to score a poacher’s goal. His second came from Milan’s defence snoozing allowing him the time and space to shoot past Donnarumma and netting off the sidebar.

Milan suffer a devastating loss and show that they cannot perform at home in 2021. The top four is in jeopardy as Juventus close the gap to just one point and Atalanta have the opportunity to leap frog us later today.
