AC Milan did the unthinkable yesterday and finally picked up all three points when their direct competitors dropped them. Juventus and Roma both lost allowing Milan to slightly extend their lead and go into the international break solidly in second place. Milan played well assisted by the returns of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Hakan Calhanoglu and Ismael Bennacer. Ibrahimovic opened the scoring with a sublime finish from a visionary pass from Simon Kjaer. Milan were drawn level from a Pulgar free kick that curled in sharp beating Gigio at the near post. Milan went down 2-1 in the second half after Vlahovic and Ribery combined well in the box. Milan dug themselves out of the hole with a messy goal from the corner as Kjaer laid the ball off for Brahim Diaz who scrambled it in. Kjaer’s second assist of the night. Ibrahimovic hit the post twice, once for a close range chip and once from an outrageous shot outside the box. A brilliant play would bring the winner as Fikayo Tomori intercepted the ball and passed to Diaz, he laid it off for Kessie who carried the ball to the edge of the box before setting up Calhanoglu for the shot. Calhanoglu hit it sweetly curling past the keeper and into the bottom corner for the winner. A huge 3-2 win for us and one where we came from behind to close out the game.
