AC Milan took on Manchester United at the San Siro yesterday night and were knocked out of the Europa League after a 1-0 loss in a tightly contested. Milan left the competition with their heads held high as they went toe to toe with United and dominated the first half with a shell of their squad and no attack. Milan failed to convert their chances with Rade Krunic, Alexis Saelemaekers and Theo Hernandez wasting vital opportunities early on in the game. The introduction of Paul Pogba at half time swung the pendulum in United’s favour as the midfielder brought dynamism and directness leading to the goal very early into the second half off a mistake from Soualiho Meite who failed to clear the ball gifting Pogba the chance. Milan had some good opportunities as Zlatan Ibrahimovic came on and tested Henderson but we could not find a way through. This is the second time Milan have been knocked out by an English team in the knock out stages of this competition.
