AC Milan Striker Tipped To Come Out Of Retirement For Sweden’s National Team

The striker has been on fire but has struggled for fitness, let’s see if he can add more to his plate.

Fotboll Direkt - a Swedish outlet - are reporting that AC Milan’s veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will return to play for Sweden’s national team in the World Cup qualifiers at the age of 39. The striker retired from the national side in June 2016 after the Euros having played 116 games and scoring 62 goals for his country.

Since his retirement, Ibrahimovic played for Manchester United in England, Los Angeles Galaxy in the United States and return to AC Milan in Italy. Since January 2020 at Milan, the striker has scored 27 goals and provided 7 assists in all competitions helping Milan fight for a Champions League place.

The squad will be announced on the 18th of March and could play up to three games over the International break.

MilanNews.it are reporting that Ibrahimovic is open to a renewal as he has publicly stated a few times in the past couple of weeks saying:

“Renewal? If Paolo wants me, I’m there.”
