Grading AC Milan's Winter Transfer Window: DEPARTURES

Sales are necessary but the right ones are stunning.

The transfer window closed earlier this week in Italy and AC Milan were very active compared to other Serie A teams. They reinforced but also disposed. Here are grades for the transfers out:

Leo Duarte (Centre Back)

Salary: €790k per year gross (5.5 million)

Deal: Loan with an option to buy

Club: Istanbul Basaksehir

Duarte arrived at Milan at the wrong time and was eclipsed by injuries and easily fell behind Simon Kjaer is no time. The deal works well for Milan as the player’s value is not high given he has barely played on the past two years. Getting five and a half million in for a reserve player will definitely be worthwile.

GRADE: B-

Andrea Conti (Right Back)

Salary: €1.85 million per year gross

Deal: Loan with an option to buy (7 million)

Club: Parma

Conti is another player was was simply unlucky at Milan. He came in with so much hype but was torn down by injuries spending more time on the treatment table that in the squad. This season in particular was tough for him given the emergence of Pierre Kalulu and the stellar form of Davide Calabria keepin him benched. This is a solid deal as he can help his new side avoid relegation. Good deal for Milan to be able to once again.

GRADE: A-

Mateo Musacchio (Centre Back)

Salary: €1.85 million per year gross

Deal: Mutual Termination

Club: Lazio

This is a strange deal as I will not really miss Musacchio especially given the presence of multiple options on the squad at centre back. Another unlucky player who happened to be at the club at the wrong time overlapping with Leornado Bonucci and Simon Kjaer in the past few years to have his time on the pitch severely limited. The move serves him well but could bite Milan as he adds depth to a direct competitor fr Milan.

GRADE: C

Lorenzo Colombo (Striker)

Salary: 270k per year gross

Deal: Dry loan

Club: Cremonese

Colombo just needed a change of scenery and less pressure on his shoulders to better integrate into a squad as well as discover his player style. The striker has the technical capabilities to be a dangerous striker but needs to make use of the chance in Serie B to learn and gain some confidence. The dry loan works as it gives both sides time to figure out the future of the player.

GRADE: A+
