Opta via Sempre Milan are reporting that AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has broken a league record in the derby della Madonnina against Inter Milan on Sunday afternoon. The 21 year old made his 200th Serie A appearance becoming the youngest player in the 3 point era of the league to do so. This milestone is monumental considering that the keeper has managed to hold his spot for Milan for 6 years now and is the undisputed no. 1 for Italy's national team.
The record was previously held by Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon who got his 200th appearance in Serie A when he was 24 years and 83 days old. Donnarumma has bested this feat at 21 years and 361 days old. In that time Donnarumma has kept 69 clean sheets bearing in mind he has had some of the worst defences in the history of the club offering him very little protection. He has at least 11 clean sheets in each of his Serie A campaigns thus far and only needs 3 more clean sheets to keep that record going from another 15 games this season.
