MilanNews.it are reporting that AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer has picked up another injury in the Europa League fixture against Crvena Zvezda last night. The midfielder has had a relapse as he was forced to limp off the pitch at the 39th minute to be replaced by Sandro Tonali. The issue is with his muscle on his right thigh. He will definitely be out for the derby but a return seems to be a while away for the moment.
The midfielder has only played 206 minutes of football across 4 games since the end of November 2020. Milan are visibly struggling to dominate in the midfield without him. 3 out of 4 losses this season have come when Bennacer is not present.
After the game manager Stefano Pioli spoke to the press via MilanLive.it and said:
“The really sore point is his relapse. We thought we had done everything to be safe, but instead he felt something. Too bad, he’s a boy who was growing up and now he’s sorry that he has to stop again.”
