He had trauma to his left patellar tendon and thus was ruled out despite his red hot form. The Croatia international has re-joined training and is expected to be called up for the UEFA Europa League fixture against Crvena Zvezda in Serbia on Thursday this week ahead of the derby this weekend. His return would be a big boost to the side as they need to bounce back from the unexpected loss.

Antonio Vitiello is reporting that Milan can also be cautiously optimistic about the return of Davide Calabria who had a minor issue but was also serving a suspension in the league. The right back is sorely missed after an underwhelming performance from Diogo Dalot.
