To be honest I don't think there is a need to write a recap of this match as Spezia completely rolled over AC Milan in every way possible. There was no aspect of the match that Milan did well in against Spezia. The team didn't know where to pass and when they did it was slow and when they tried to speed it up their passes couldn't even find their target. Every aspect about Milan was horrible and Spezia took advantage of that and dominated the match. Some may compare this match to the ones against Lille or Atalanta but I think this was worse because Spezia doesn't have the players to break a team down like that, instead they broke Milan down with tactics and pressing. Milan suffered and suffered hard in this match, they had zero yes zero shots on target. Now the team must learn from these mistakes and put this match behind them. If more teams follow a similar game-plan to Spezia then Milan will have to find a plan b and it seems that the team lacks that right now.

STARTING LINE-UP
Gianluigi Donnarumma: Gigio made some very nice saves when he needed to. As for the first goal that was a mess in the box and him not getting too that was unlucky but you could say he has to be more aggressive and fight for that ball. As for the second goal he had no chance. 6/10
Diogo Dalot: This was probably Dalot’s worst game for Milan. He was all over the place with his positioning, got beat numerous times and couldn't pass at all. Overall Dalot hasn't impressed me much this year. 4/10
Simon Kjaer: Usually Kjaer is rock solid at the back but against Spezia he wasn't great. I think he was rushed back as at times he looked a bit of a step behind. 4.5/10
Today feels like every Milan performance against lower table teams from 2014-2019

Alessio Romagnoli: Like Kjaer, Alessio was poor in this match. He was falling all over the pitch and he has to do better on the first goal from Spezia. 4.5/10
Theo Hernandez: Another match where a Theo run forward leads directly to a goal... from the other team. Twice in a few matches where Theo has given it away too easily and the team has gotten scored on because of it. 4/10
Ismael Bennacer: When I saw Bennacer’s name in the starting eleven I can't lie I was excited but he didn't perform. Maybe he was rushed back as well because it didn't seem like he was up to speed with the flow of the match. 4/10
Franck Kessie: I didn't hear Franck’s name much in this match. Usually he is the disruptor but Spezia and their players ran all over Milan. 4.5/10

Alexis Saelemaekers: A few matches in a row where Alexis has gone completely ghost and nobody can find him. He did next to nothing in this match and that just isn't going to cut it. 4/10
Hakan Calhanoglu: Last week Hakan came on and the team exploded but this week he didn't have any impact on the match whatsoever. I know he just got back from Covid but this was just horrible. 4/10
Rafael Leao: Usually when a team presses Milan, Leao can take advantage of their aggressiveness and do a move past a defender to launch an attack. In this match he did none of that and like the rest of the players didn't do much of anything. 4/10
Zlatan Ibrahimovic: Zlatan also can take blame for this match. He didn't get many chances but he was wasteful with the ball at his feet. But I will say he was isolated for 99 percent of the match. 4/10

SUBSTITUTES
Mario Mandzukic: I don't think Mandzukic touched the ball aside from the header that went wide of the net. 4/10
Fikayo Tomori: Possibly the lone bright spot in this match. Tomori was very good and keeps proving that a purchase might be the best option. 6/10
Soualiho Meite: I don't think Meite is the answer and he keeps looking a tad slower than the rest of the squad even in this match. On the second Spezia goal he was too slow to close out the Spezia player and that led to a goal. 4/10
Jens Petter Hauge: N/A
Samu Castillejo: N/A
