Fabrizio Romano via Calcio Mercato is reporting that AC Milan made a solid attempt to sign Barcelona's left Junior Firpo in the winter transfer window on loan with an option to buy bu notes that there were two main issues. Firstly, the defender did not want to leave Spain for personal reasons. Secondly, Barcelona did not find a replacement for Firpo hence did not want to lose him and leave a gap in the middle.
A deal is completed in the summer as Firpo wishes to Barcelona for a club where he can be a starter but Milan already have Theo Hernandez as their undisputed starter. He would therefore not likely join the club despite the strong interest from Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara.
MilanNews.it are reporting that Milan meanwhile continue to observe another Barcelona wing back in Emerson who is on loan at Real Betis until the end of the season. He could be an option if Diogo Dalot is not redeemed from Manchester United at the end of his loan.
