AC Milan Women hosted Empoli at Vismara yesterday afternoon as they looked to continue their recovery following the 1-0 win over Fiorentina last week. The Rossonere played a tight game but emerged with another 1-0 victory that keeps them in third place against quite tough opposition. Valentina Giacinti returned to her scoring ways while Maria Korenciova nabbed a another clean sheet as the highlights of the game, Maurizio Ganz must be delighted to edge key wins at this point of the season to recover from the loss to Sassuolo and draw with Roma last month.
Giacinti pounced at the Empoli goalkeeper in the 68th minute when she spilled the ball off a cross and the striker smacked a volley home for the game winner. This marks her seventh goal in the league where she sits as top scorer.
The game also saw some younger players get some minutes as Selimhodzic and Jonusaite - both new signings - took to the pitch in the second half.
The next match will be against newly promoted Pomigliano on the road next weekend.
